Non League Day At The Lane

Non-League day is on Saturday 3rd September - this is your chance to support your local team

Non-league day is designed to coincide with a day when there is no Premier League or Championship football because of away international games
On this day your local side Worcester City of the Blue Square Bet Conference North Division are entertaining Corby Town at St. Georges Lane and all Premiership and Championship League supporters who hold season tickets for their respective clubs will be allowed entry to the game for just £5.
In addition to this, Worcester City are also admitting Armed Forces and Emergency Service personnel FREE of charge!
So why not come and join us (remember to bring proof of season ticket or services ID with you) and you never know you might even want to come back again when your side are playing too far away to go!

Blue Dragon Beer & Cider Festival

Well, what a wonderful success the inaugural Blue Dragon beer and Cider festival turned out to be. Admittedly it has been over 12 months in planning and had a few false starts along the way.

The 3 day event held in the main (legends) bar was well attended. With 25 local beers and ciders to try the variety was good; from the strong dark Dragon’s Blood to the lighter quaffing ale, Swedish Blonde and all whilst listening to some great local talent including Ronda who were the headliners on Friday night.
The trust is hoping this will be at least an annual event and with some encouragement might even put on a second event before the end of this season.

Penalty Shoot Out Drama At The Lane
Minimize

An extraordinary evening at St George’s Lane saw 87 seven to 10-year-olds beat a Worcester City men’s 11-a-side team.

The unusual match on the Lane pitch ended 1-1 before the children’s outfit came out on top in the resulting penalty shoot-out.

City included first-team manager Carl Heeley and his assistant Matt Gardiner as well as several current players and legends Ian Cottrill, Paul Molloy and Mark Owen, who opened the scoring.

The Thursday open evening youngsters team replied — with 20 players claiming the goal!  Carl Heeley admitted: “We were outplayed in midfield. We couldn’t cope with their 15-35-37 formation and were overrun!”

The free event, run by the club with the help of the Supporters Trust,  was also attended by West Midlands MEP Nikki Sinclaire who is sponsoring City player Simon Brown and the matchball for the Solihull Moors clash.

Other sponsors who came for the official team photo included Mike Birch from Baylis Vauxhall of Worcester.

Details on sponsorhip of players, match balls, match day programmes and events at the club are available through Rich Widdowson at the club or by email at  richwiddowson@worcestercityfc.co.uk

Trust Band Night

The Supporters' Trust had the first Trust Band Night in May which featured well know local bands Trevino Staxx and Skewwhiff. With only being £3 on the night to geet in plus having DJ Bod providing music at "half time" a good crowd turned up. The Band Nights are sometning we're looking to continue; if you know of any local bands who'd be interested in the future then get in touch with Dave Wood at wcfctrust@btinternet.com
